Solar Energy Storage

Solar Energy Storage Solutions

Pairing batteries with solar turns daytime generation into round-the-clock power. Our LiFePO4 batteries are configured for solar energy storage in homes, businesses and larger installations.

LJY Energy supplies standard and configured LiFePO4 batteries for solar installers, distributors, system integrators and OEM brands. As a China-based LiFePO4 battery supplier and OEM/ODM solutions provider, we help buyers match system voltage, usable capacity, BMS communication and enclosure format to the inverter platform and market they serve.

What Solar Storage Systems Typically Need

A solar storage system has to do two jobs at once: absorb as much of the day’s generation as possible, then carry the load through the evening and night. Sizing therefore starts from consumption and autonomy, not from panel count alone.

  • System voltage: 48V-class for residential and commercial systems; 12V / 24V for smaller setups such as cabins, RVs and small off-grid homes.
  • Capacity: sized to overnight consumption and the days of autonomy required. Work in usable energy: at 80% depth of discharge, a 5.12kWh nominal module delivers about 4.1kWh of working capacity.
  • Inverter matching: confirm the battery voltage window and, where required, the communication protocol between the battery BMS and the inverter (CAN/RS485 closed-loop is preferred where the inverter supports it).
  • Charge settings: the MPPT or hybrid inverter charger must use a LiFePO4 profile — correct absorption voltage, no equalization stage. See the charging voltage chart for per-configuration setpoints.
  • Expansion path: most residential systems grow. Modular wall-mounted and rack-mount formats let installers add parallel capacity later instead of replacing the first battery.

Not sure how much storage your project needs? Run the load numbers through our Solar Battery Sizing Calculator for a first estimate, then confirm against the inverter and autonomy requirements.

Recommended Battery Solutions

The following standard models cover the most common residential and small-commercial solar storage paths. Final compatibility should be confirmed against inverter voltage window, charge current, communication protocol and the selected battery’s parallel limits.

48V 100Ah Wall-Mounted LiFePO4 Battery

51.2V (16S) · 5.12 kWh · wall-mounted

The starter home-storage module: wall-mounted to save floor space, and expandable to four units in parallel (20.48kWh) as household demand grows.

48V 200Ah Rack-Mount LiFePO4 Battery

48V-class · 10kWh class · 19-inch rack module

Double-capacity rack module for larger homes and small commercial systems that need around 10kWh per unit and clean multi-module scaling.

51.2V Rack-Mount LiFePO4 Battery

51.2V nominal · server-rack format

Server-rack format storage for installers standardizing on 51.2V (16S) systems — tidy cabinet installs for homes, offices and light commercial sites.

Key Selection Factors

  • Size on usable energy, not nameplate: plan around 80% depth of discharge for long cycle life. A household using 6kWh overnight needs roughly 7.5kWh nominal, before autonomy margin.
  • Match battery voltage to the inverter: most “48V” LiFePO4 packs are 51.2V nominal (16S). Confirm the inverter’s battery voltage window covers the pack’s full charge and discharge range.
  • Confirm communication before ordering: CAN/RS485 closed-loop communication lets the BMS and inverter coordinate charge limits automatically. Where the inverter brand supports it, specify it in the order rather than retrofitting later.
  • Check charge current against array size: a large array on a small bank can exceed the battery’s recommended charge current. Confirm the combined charge-current setting when modules are paralleled.
  • Plan the expansion path: confirm the maximum parallel count for the selected model, and keep modules identical in model and age when expanding.
  • Think in seasons: winter generation can be a fraction of summer. If the system must carry loads year-round, size for the worst season or accept grid/generator support in the design.

Wholesale & OEM/ODM Inquiry

LJY Energy supports solar installers, distributors, integrators and energy brands with sample evaluation, repeat wholesale supply and OEM/ODM configurations confirmed per project. Depending on the project, requirements may include enclosure and label branding, BMS rating, inverter communication protocol, monitoring functions and packaging.

Before requesting a quotation, review the MOQ and sample order guide and the LiFePO4 wholesale buyer’s guide. Then send us the inverter model, daily consumption, autonomy target, installation format and target quantity so the recommendation starts from the actual system.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much battery capacity does a solar home need?

Start from overnight consumption. Many homes use roughly 5–10kWh between sunset and sunrise; one 5.12kWh module covers essentials for a smaller household, while 10kWh or more suits whole-evening coverage or higher self-consumption targets. Size on usable energy (about 80% of nominal) and add margin for the autonomy days required. Our sizing calculator gives a first estimate.

Is a “48V” battery really 51.2V?

Usually, yes. Most batteries marketed as 48V LiFePO4 are 16-series (16S) packs at 51.2V nominal — a market naming convention. They work with 48V-class hybrid inverters, but charge-voltage settings must match the actual cell count: 16S absorption is typically 56.8–58.4V. Confirm the configuration of your order before programming the inverter.

Can I add more batteries later?

Yes — wall-mounted and rack-mount modules support parallel expansion within the model’s confirmed limit (for example, up to four units for the 48V 100Ah wall-mounted module). Expand with identical modules and confirm the inverter’s combined charge-current setting for the larger bank.

Does the battery need to communicate with my inverter?

Closed-loop CAN/RS485 communication is preferred where the inverter supports it, because the BMS and inverter coordinate charge limits and state of charge automatically. Voltage-based (open-loop) operation also works on many systems. Tell us your inverter model at the inquiry stage so the protocol can be matched per order.

What happens to excess solar once the battery is full?

That is an inverter and system-design question, not a battery limitation: hybrid inverters can export to the grid, curtail generation, or divert to loads depending on configuration and local rules. The battery’s role is to absorb surplus up to its capacity and charge-current limits.
